Introduction

Take a peek behind closed doors for an intimate viewing of San Miguel’s treasures in the creative community! We’ll visit four artists’sudios, and then enjoy lunch at a fine country restaurant. After our meal we’ll visit a magnificent nearby artisan gallery.

In the tour, participants will encounter a variety of styles from large to smaller pieces, silver to clay, realistic images to abstract works from seven different artists in their studios. You will be transported to each studio, to our restaurant, and to the gallery out of town.

Our price includes transportation (round trip from St. Paul’s Church, Cardo #4) and fees for our expert guide. (You will be responsible for paying for your own lunch.) You won't want to miss out, so bring your credit cards, check books, or cash and your art collection can have many fine new additions purchased directly from each artist.

Itinerary

Day one

9:00 AM We’ll gather in front of St. Paul’s Church, Cardo #4, San Miguel de Allende

9:15 AM Departure

9:30 Arrive at our first Art Home/Studio of an artist whose work deals with imaginary spaces that utilize texture and biomorphic forms that take a viewer to uncharted territory. Her drawings demonstrate the known world with infinite care manipulates reality with intensely beautiful lines.

10:15 AM Walk two short blocks to our next Art Home/Studio. Her prints make visible an appropriated history of our world with a myriad of layers and processes. Her jewelry uses all the delightful detritus to be found in hidden drawers for a magnificently sophisticated presentation.

11:00 AM Arrive at a well-known Clay Studio. Each of the four artists has a different aesthetic approach in their work. You will see tender, tough, elegant and powerful styles~ the full gamut of glazes and touch.

12:30 We’ll drive to the unique Art Home/Studio of an artist/botanist/writer. This amazingly diverse artist experiments in different media with unusual textures and colors. Her paintings, ceramics, and jewelry are a dream world of magical surrealism.

12:45 PM The group will be driven out into the countryside to enjoy lunch at a nearby beautiful hacienda that will delight the palette and soothe the soul.

2:40 PM Our last stop is a visit to a “masterful gallery” that delights and amazes even the keenest collectors. This home/studio/gallery houses the best crafts made in Mexico. The gallery hosts works by the most famous Mexican master artisans; all waiting to be additions to your collection.

3:30- 4:00 PM Depart for San Miguel arriving at approximately 3:45 PM.

A visit to seven artists with very different aesthetics will provide you with an intense artistic experience that forever lingers in your memory. The final gallery visit only reinforces what everyone guesses~ “Behind Closed Doors” is a revelation whose secrets are not to be missed!
