Travel to the coastal lowlands and experience its annual Raptor Migration.  View this spectacle from three key locations. Visit archeological sites and lagoons for birding. Enjoy two nights at a modern beach hotel and enjoy fresh seafood at their fine restaurant.

Journey into the lush tropical mountains of Xalapa and Coatepec for three more nights, staying in the peaceful and charming “Pueblo Magico” of Coatepec (elevation 4300 ft.). From here hike at the nearby Texolo Waterfalls surrounded by birds, butterflies and tropical flora. View inland endemics and migrants at the nearby Cerro de las Culebras Park, and visit the Francisco Javier Clavijero Botanical Garden, with its 16 acres of tropical plants from the State of Veracruz.

On the drive back to San Miguel de Allende visit the peaceful and historical town of Tlaxcala for lunch.

Itinerary

Day one
OCTOBER 4, SUNDAY | TRAVEL DAY TO THE BEACH
7:00 am Depart from St. Paul’s Church, Cardo #6. A sack breakfast will be served en route. A current detailed itinerary will be given to each traveler. Arrive in Huamantla at Hacienda for lunch*.  Depart for Playa Chachalacas. Arrive and check into beach hotel. 6:00 Meet in hotel for dinner*.

Day two
OCTOBER 5, MONDAY | RAPTOR MIGRATION • BEACH
6:00 A.M. Breakfast at our hotel. Depart for La Mancha for birding. Drive to Cardel to observe the Raptor Migration and have lunch*. Return to our hotel to rest, or leave for Chichicaxtle for afternoon Raptor viewing. Meet at hotel restaurant for dinner*.

Day three
OCTOBER 6, TUESDAY | RAPTOR MIGRATION • ARCHEOLOGY
7:00 A.M. Breakfast at our hotel. Early departure for Quiahuitzlan to visit the archeological site and bird watch.  Return to hotel. Lunch at hotel*. Luggage to front desk and check out. Depart for Cardel. Arrive at Cardel to observe the Raptor Migration.  Leave for Coatepec. Arrive in Coatepec and check into hotel.  Meet in our hotel lobby for orientation and maps. Free time. Meet at nearby restaurant for dinner.*

Day four
OCTOBER 7, WEDNESDAY | WATERFALLS, BIRDS, BUTTERFLIES AND COFFEE
6:30 A.M. Breakfast at our hotel. Leave for Xico to visit the Texolo Waterfalls for hiking and bird watching. Drive to nearby regional restaurant for lunch* and bird watching. Depart for El Museo del Cafe for a private tour. Return to hotel in Coatepec. Free time to explore town. Meet in hotel lobby and walk to a nearby restaurant or meet us at the restaurant for dinner.*

Day five
OCTOBER 8, THURSDAY | BIRDWATCHING AT CULEBRAS ~ PRIVATE TOUR OF BOTANICAL GARDEN
6:30 A.M. Breakfast at our hotel. Early depart for Cerro de las Culebras Park for bird watching. Depart for lunch* at a nearby restaurant. Return to hotel to freshen up. Depart for private guided tour of the Francisco Javier Clavijero Botanical Garden in Xalapa.  Dinner* in Xalapa with our esteemed guide.

Day six
OCTOBER 9, FRIDAY | TRAVEL DAY TO SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE
7:30 Breakfast at hotel. Check out and depart for Tlaxcala. Arrive in Tlaxcala for lunch*. Depart for San Miguel de Allende. Arrive in SM that evening.

Booking and cancellation policies
bullet Reservations will be confirmed once the full payment has been received
bullet Due to the cancellation policies of our providers, we must retain USD $250 of your
   payment if you cancel your reservation
bullet If you cancel less than 30 days prior to departure 100% of your payment becomes
   nonrefundable. If you are able to find a traveler to fill your space we'll refund 100% of your
   payment
bullet If Travelian does not have the minumum number of travelers necessary for this trip, the
   trip will have to be cancelled, and you will receive a full refund of any payments you have
   made
