Travel Physical Demands

line

The activities on all Travelian Tours anticipate the good health and good physical condition of all travelers. Prospective travelers who use walking or other mobility devices on a regular basis, who have pulmonary, cardiac, orthopedic or similarly limiting conditions, or who have had recent surgical procedures must contact Travelian Tours, disclose the information and discuss this with a Travelian representative. These concerns are for the well-being of such individual traveler and the overall experience of the traveling group as a whole.

Level 1

Includes simple relatively level walking in town or on improved (paved or gravel) trails. Stop, stand and go for up to two hours at a time.

Level 2

Includes Level 1 plus: Walking or hiking modest uphill/downhill in town or on improved (paved or gravel) trails for a period of up to four hours at a time. Or walking in urban settings with stair-climbs.

Level 3

Includes Level 2 plus: Walking or hiking modest uphill/downhill unimproved / dirt trails for up to four hours at a time. Or walking in urban or rural settings with significant stair climbing.

Level 4

Includes Level 3 plus: Walking or hiking uphill/downhill on unimproved / dirt trails with periodically steep segments for any period of time. Or riding a horse on a steep trail, while horse is being led.

Level 5

Travelian does not do what we would consider Level 5 Physical Demand tours.

Special Note About Airports

On all trips which include air travel, each travelers must be able to be responsible for carrying/rolling own luggage from land transportation to check-in and/or gates, as well as from gates to baggage claim to land transportation, as porters are not always available at airports.

Special Note About Altitude

On the Monarch Butterfly Tours, we will be achieving an ultimate elevation of approximately 11,000 feet. We highly, highly recommend that all travelers acclimate themselves to at least a moderate elevation for at least several days before beginning this trip. If you spend several days in San Miguel (elev. 6000 feet), that will probably be sufficient. If a traveler is coming from the mile-high city of Denver, that will probably be sufficient. If a traveler intends to come directly from coastal or low elevation city for this trip, that could be problematic for his/her health. (Please read online articles about High-altitude Pulmonary Edema if you have any questions.)

To reserve a travel space, please make a US$500 deposit per person for each trip. Travelian Tours will confirm your reservations as soon as we receive your deposits.
US$300 per person of these deposits is non-refundable.

Please pay the balance at least 60 days before the beginning of your tour.

We assume you've decided to cancel your tour if you don't pay your balance on time.
After the due date, Travelian Tours will release your space and make it available to other interested travelers. Your payments will be subject to our cancelation policies.

We strive to make every tour successful and guarantee as many departures as possible. Yet our minimum number of needed travelers is six guests. We'll inform you as soon as possible if we only have five or fewer travelers; at this point, you can decide to do a Private Customized Tour or still do it with the other travelers that are signed up, with a slight adjustment in the fees so the tour is financially doable.
