Itinerary
DAY 1
7:00 AM Depart on a four-hour drive to Mexico City. After arriving and checking into our hotel, we'll enjoy lunch* together. Then, we'll head out to the picturesque district of Coyoacan, where we'll visit the Frida Kahlo Museum. We'll have dinner* in Coyoacan at a lovely restaurant on the main square.

DAY 2
We'll start the day with breakfast at our hotel. This morning, we'll explore the Parque Ecologico Xochimilco, where we'll enjoy hiking and birding around the marshes and lakes with our guide. We'll board a traditional trajinera for lunch and tour Xochimilco's historical canals. In the afternoon, we'll visit the remarkable Anahuacalli Museum, which has fantastic architecture, an exquisite collection of Diego Rivera's pre-hispanic pieces, and original paintings and sketches of murals by Diego Rivera. We'll return to our hotel for cocktails and have dinner* at a nearby restaurant that evening.

Overnight in Mexico City
DAY 3
After breakfast at our hotel, we'll visit the Soumaya Museum in the district of Polanco and then enjoy lunch* at an excellent nearby restaurant. That afternoon, we'll visit the remarkable Museo de Arte Popular de La Ciudad de México (Mexico City Folk Art Museum). We'll have dinner* together at a fine restaurant in Downtown.

DAY 4
Once we've had breakfast at our hotel, we'll travel to the semi-tropical state of Morelos, 2 hours south of Mexico City. Here, we'll spend the morning birding and exploring the spectacular archeological site of Xochicalco, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We'll enjoy lunch* on the shores of Lago de Coatetelco. On our way back, we'll visit the Pueblo Magico of Tepoztlan, where we'll experience its Sunday market. Once we've returned to Mexico City, you may relax at our hotel or wander around Perisur, one of the city's upscale shopping centers. We'll enjoy cocktails and dinner* that evening at a nearby restaurant.

DAY 5
After a leisurely breakfast, we'll pack and check out of our hotel. We'll leave for San Miguel de Allende. In San Juan del Rio, we'll stop for lunch* at a Barbacoa restaurant, a traditional cuisine in the State of Queretaro. We plan to arrive in San Miguel by 6:00 PM.
